‘VKV Jairampur’ extortion case cracked

ITANAGAR, May 17: ‘VKV Jairampur’ extortion case has been cracked as the Jairampur police recently arrested the alleged accused, Thinghsam Mossang, 22, of Longman village under Jairampur circle under Changlang district, informed an official release.

Reportedly, the police recovered cash of Rs 1100, brown sugar approximately weighing 05.400 mlg and dry marijuana leaves (ganja) weighing 71.530 mlg from the accused.

Earlier, a case has been registered at Jairampur PS vide Jairampur PS case no 447/384/506 IPC R/W SEC 13 UAP act on 11/05/18 on receipt of a written complaint from Rupesh Mathur, joint secretary, VKV, APT, Dibrugarh, Assam, camp Jairampur.

On May 10, one unidentified youth reportedly entered into the VKV campus at Jairampur and introduced himself as member of ULFA and demanded Rs 10000 showing weapon and took away Rs 5000 from the said teacher.

Swinging into action, the Jairampur police identified the alleged accused, who is a habitual offender. Police kept observation about his movement so that he may not be alert. After getting pin point location from SB Jairampur, a team of Jairampur police consisting of SI P K Kalita, ASI L Pansa and other police personnel led by SDPO Miao Tasi Darang flung into action and waited for the accused to come to the location.

As the alleged accused came to the location at Sawmill area in order to collect extortion from the area, police put effort to catch him and he tried to escape. However, he was overpowered and arrested.

The case was overall supervised by SP Changlang J K Lego.
