AAPSU demand gets impetus as Govt of Mizoram calls for making correction in NEE results

ITANAGAR, May 30: The AAPSU demand for cancellation of Mizoram Chakma students from admission in North East Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) gets impetus with the Govt of Mizoram, Higher & Technical Education Department making request to the authority concerned to make corrections in NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE-I & NEE-III) results 2018.

In a letter to the Registrar of NERIST, Malsawmdawngliani, the Under Secretary to Govt of Mizoram, said: “It is observed that there are many Chakmas in the list of selected candidates whereas the Chakmas are to be placed under Category-II as per the Mizoram (Selection of Candidates for Higher Technical Course) Rules, 2016.”

The Under Secretary has urged the NERIST authority to make corrections in NEE-I and NEE-III results saying the allotment of seats to Chakma students under Mizoram quota can only be given in NEE-II Category.

Meanwhile, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union, in a press note, said, our demand on cancellation of Mizoram Chakma students from admission in NERIST is not without reasons as the candidates have duped the Govt of Mizoram. It is amply reflected in the letter addressed to the Registrar NERIST by Under Secretary to the Govt of Mizoram vide letter No.A.42011/1/2013-THE(TE) dated Aizawl, the 22nd May,2018. The said letter clearly dwells on the eligibility of Chakma students under its State quota.  As per the Mizoram (Selection of Candidates for Higher Technical Course) Rules, 2016, all the candidates are classified into three categories viz Category-I, Category-II and Category-III.  There has been great anomaly that the Chakma students were allotted many seats under Govt of Mizoram quota in other categories whereas they only qualify in category-II.
