APLS holds session to mark Luminous Lummer birth anniv

ITANAGAR, Jun 1: Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) today celebrated the 78th birth anniversary of Luminous Lummer Dai, followed by literary sitting to pay tribute to the great soul in an impressive function held at conference hall of J N State Museum here under the chairmanship of Tokong Pertin, Director Trade & Commerce and vice president APLS.

The program started with paying of floral tributes at his portrait.

In his deliberation, Pertin recapitulated the pioneering contribution of Lummer Dai in the field of creative literature. He requested all members of APLS to follow his legacy that, he felt, will be the real tribute to him.

Dr T Zirdo briefed his (Lummer Dai’s) personality, jovial gesture and magnanimous heart and sharing personal experience with him.

Nani Kojin, APLS vice president described Lummer Dai as dynamic personality for his pioneering works in literary field. While lauding his contribution, Kojin said that the literary giant has inspired him in several ways. He prayed to the great soul to shower blessings to strengthen the literary activities under the umbrella of APLS.

Dr Shipra Sarkar presented an English poem, as a mark of tribute to Lummer Dai.

Rindo Pertin described the literary icon as a bridge between the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Y Zirdo presented an Adi poem dedicated to the literary giant.

Inumoni Das Bora presented an Assamese poem on the great literary personality.

B Dabi threw light on Lummer Dai’s novel ‘Kanyar Mulya’ and her initial feelings. She said: “That book was first impetus on tribal society and culture of Arunachal Pradesh”

Another speaker Dorjee presented a Hindi poem on mother.

Yater Nyokir who has been doing her research on challenges of creative writings gave a brief on the chronology of Lummer Dai’s contributions.

Among others, R N Koley, OSD, Research and Dr Radhe Yampi, asstt director were present.
