Maj Gen Gamlin calls on Dy CM

ITANAGAR, Jun 5: Major General Jarken Gamlin called on Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein here today.

They held discussions on ways to go forward & involve ‘Pay Back to the Society Group (PBSG)’ of Arunachali Armed Forces officers both serving & retired in Indian Armed Forces to interact, motivate & give career guidance to the senior secondary level students for joining as officers in the Indian Armed Forces.

During the interactions, Mein said that the youths of the State will be greatly influenced and encouraged to join the Armed Forces seeing their elder brothers like him holding high posts in the Indian Army.

While lauding the Major General for his personal interest and proactive approach for the purpose, the Dy CM assured to provide logistic support from the State Govt’s end to his core group for facilitating the Career Guidance Programme for the youths citing the growing unemployment among the educated youths.

He added that there is natural potential and fitness among the tribal youths and the need of the hour is the right motivation and proper guidance to them.

Mein also expressed gratitude to Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra, who had initiated and invited the PBSG to encourage the youths of the State through interaction and career guidance to join the Armed Forces.

Major General Gamlin informed the Dy CM that a core group from the PBSG of Arunachal Armed Forces Officers has been formed to initiate the career guidance programme in consultation with the Education department. He said that they are very serious and wholeheartedly taking up the programme and expressed hope that the students of the higher secondary schools will be largely benefited from it, according to an official release.
