UPS Ngopok undergoes major facelift

PASIGHAT, Jun 6: The Govt Upper Primary School, Ngopok under Monggu Banggo area (Lower Mebo) is undergoing a major facelift with voluntary donations by its alumni and well-wishers where no single penny of Govt is being used.

While inspecting the ongoing facelifting work today, East Siang DDSE Jongge Yirang, who was accompanied by District Project Directors Obang Taloh (SSA) and Tamo Tatak (RMSA), said that the entire renovation and refurbishing works are being carried out by the voluntary donations received from former students of this school as well as well-wishers from across the state.

Yirang further said that he along with the staff of UPS Ngopok is ensuring proper and satisfactory works so that the school infrastructures and other refurbished materials last long, at least for 10 years and above.

“UPS Ngopok, established in 1964, was lying dilapidated since long and children from this largest village of Mebo sub-division were deprived of basic education amenities. That’s why we planned to renovate the school without govt funding”, said the DDSE Yirang, one of the alumni of the school.

Yirang said, he wanted to show others that the schools can be made functional and beautified for better education of children without seeking govt funds.

Meanwhile, a meeting for proper renovation and fulfillment of required subject teachers at UPS Borguli was held today under the chairmanship of DDSE. The meeting was organized by the All Mebo Constituency Students’ Union.

The DDSE assured to look into the urgent requirement of teacher at UPS Borguli and at the same time, asked the teaching staff to be sincere in duties or else they will have to face ‘no work, no pay’.
