Itanagar, Jun 7: A two-day training of trainers (ToT) for district nodal officer, DANO, & district community moblizer, DCM, commenced in a city hotel here today.

The trained officers will roll out the training in their respective district and impart the training to ASHAs to prepare them handle any emergency during any natural disasters. During the two days training, the participants will be trained on how to act as an emergency responder and provide first aid.

“Every life is precious. We should put our best effort to save every life,” stated Dr Tapasya Raghav, Mission Director, National Health Mission, while addressing the participants.

Urging the participants to take the training seriously, she said during monsoon season natural disasters leave a profound trail of suffering and result in injury, disability and even loss of life in need of emergency medical aid at time. To thwart such situation, we need to adopt precautionary preparatory and preventive measure and give necessary capacity building to ASHAs to prepare them to handle such situation, she added.

Nodal Officer (NHM) Dr D Padung said ASHAs being a part of community can play an active role in bringing normalcy in such situation if trained on health issues. Therefore, it is pertinent that ASHAs are trained properly. He informed that during the training, the trainees will be trained in how to do the mapping of vulnerable areas and to ensuring access to relief measure and other preventive health care during disasters.
