DC reviews stipend disbursal & Aadhar enrolment of students

BOMDILA, Jun 12: A meeting was convened by DC, West Kameng with DDSE, BEO, all Principals with independent DDO power in the office of DDSE here on Tuesday.

Details of stipend disbursal were taken from all DDOs and guidelines on eligibility criteria followed for disbursal of stipend to students under SSA, elementary and secondary education was discussed at length.

It was found that students eligible for stipend in totality come around 1340 including residential, elementary and secondary students in the district.

Except for 41 students, rest have bank accounts in which stipend is disbursed wherein A/roll of same is signed by respective bank manager and submitted back to DDO. No cash is disbursed in district to any students.

Also with respect to Aadhar seeding of bank accounts, it was informed that 74% Aadhar seeding is complete for residential school, elementary & secondary education students.

The main problem that has been brought to notice of the house was that for children less than 10 years have got Jan Dhan account opened and transaction limit is very small.

Also, since the stipend comes lump-sum in one year or two installments, so either the account gets closed because of non-transaction or the stipend amount being in lump-sum cannot be added in one go.

The DC directed the CO (HQ) to ensure that Aadhar team goes to each residential school to cover left out children in Subu, Dibbin and Shergaon, and told principal to send left out secondary and senior secondary students to nearest Admin HQ for Aadhar enrolment.

He further directed the DDSE to send office staffs to respective banks for Aadhar seeding after collecting Aadhar details of students from respective schools where stipend is given. The DC also resolved to take up matter of KYC issues of various student accounts in district with the concerned banks in coming DLBC. (DIPRO)
