PI Samak Jamoh passes away at 98

PASIGHAT, Jun 12: Samak Jamoh, who served as Political Interpreter (PI) in 1951 and later as Social and Cultural Organizer (SCO), passed away at his Mirku residence here early this morning.

98-year-old Samak, who breathed his last at about 5 am today, left behind his two sons, three daughters and a host of grandchildren.

His last rites were performed today at Mirku residence.

Samak was born to late Matkur Jamoh and late Yaruk Taki Jamoh at Mirku, Pasighat.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering, Parliamentary Secretaries Kaling Moyong and Tatung Jamoh, MLA Kento Rina, ex-minister Bosiram Siram, East Siang DC Tamiyo Tatak, former ZPC Kaling Dai and former PMC chief councillor Kaling Doruk among others expressed their deep shock and condolences on the demise of Jamoh.

In their messages, they said late Samak was a good human being and would be remembered for his immense contributions to the society and the services he had rendered in state building process. All prayed to Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and to bestow strength to the bereaved family members to bear the trauma. (DIPRO)
