RPF arrests persons involved in theft of passenger belongings

MALIGAON, Jun 12: A team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway while checking at Guwahati railway station against anti-social elements, arrested two persons namely, Jaherul Islam (29) and Md Jamal Ali (36) and recovered from them one Samsung J7 mobile and one wallet containing Rs 2,500, one BOI ATM card & a PAN card, which were stolen from one passenger namely, Uday Kumar.

On the same day, at about 5.30 am during checking at Guwahati railway station against anti-social elements, the “Anti-Theft of Passenger Belongings (TOPB)” and CIB Team of Guwahati apprehended one person namely, Mintu Phukan alias Tokla alias Musaraf Ali (20) with recovery of one VIVO V5 PLUS Mobile phone from him, which was stolen from one passenger of train No. 14056 UP at Guwahati station.

Later on, all the apprehended persons in both the cases along with the recovered articles were handed over to OC/GRP/Guwahati for necessary action.

It is to be mentioned here that RPF was successful in apprehending 61 criminals on charges of theft of passenger belongings during the year 2017. While during current year 24 criminals were arrested by RPF on that account, said a release here.
