DC reviews academic performance

KHONSA, Jun 19: A district level coordination meeting to review the academic performance and achievement of 2017-18 was jointly organized by Department of Education and District Administration, Tirap at PWD circuit house community hall here today.

While reviewing the overall academic achievement of each school right from primary level to higher secondary level, Tirap Deputy Commissioner P N Thungon urged the Principals, headmasters and teachers in-charge of various govt schools to create a good environment for extracurricular activities, apart from the teaching profession especially in rural schools.

Recalling his past school days, DC said that in spite of no electricity, no water supply, no proper road communication and no proper infrastructure, still the academic ambiance in rural schools was very good due to dedication, sincerity and punctuality of those teachers in producing good numbers of officers in various ranks across the state. However, it is very unfortunate to observe that in spite of better infrastructure, better communication, still the performance of the teachers is not up to the expectations.

The DC urged the teaching community to re-dedicate themselves to be sincere, pro-active and play as a role model both for the students and the society.

In view of various flagship programmes launched by state and central governments, the DC urged to implement the schemes for the welfare of the students. He also assured that such quarterly and mid-term review would be conducted to assess the academic performance of the schools. (DIPRO)
