DA dash to upkeep Ganga Lake

ITANAGAR, Jun 30: A mass cleanliness drive was carried out at Ganga Lake here today.

Under the command of Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan, the drive was led by Dalin Tana, TIO cum member secretary, Ganga Lake Development Committee.

Besides Panchayat members, student leaders and senior residents of the area, AE Yumlam Tach along with more than 100 IMC workers, NGOs from five Wards (1, 2, 3, 4 and 13) participated in the cleanliness drive.

Despite torrential rain and insufficient tools, the drive was a huge success, informed Tana.

Meanwhile, the DC has appealed the citizens to maintain serenity of the lake and hoped that such regular exercises would ensure proper upkeep of the lake and protect it against various anti-social elements.

He informed that the Capital Administration will soon carry out an eviction drive near the Ganga Lake.

While appealing all citizens/tourists to acquire civic sense and to take voluntary responsibility to throw their trash in the dustbins no matter how far it may be, Tana stressed that it is the only recreational centre where families and tourists visit to have a good time.

He informed that the Committee under the chairmanship of the DC is doing their best to facilitate proper bathrooms, more new peddle boats, water from Poma water treatment plant etc to the lake.
