Team Dreams XI emerge champion of U-17 district level football tournament

BOMDILA, Jul 1: Team Dreams XI emerged champion of the Under-17 district level football tournament, edging past Aka XI 4-3 in the final played today.

Organized by the West Kameng District Football Association (WKDFA), the final of the competition was played at the jam packed Buddha Stadium here.

In all, ten teams from across the West Kameng district participated in the tournament.

The tournament which was more or less dominated by Dreams XI also saw two of its players Wanchu Khangriju and Rigen Khonjuju walk away with the Man of the Tournament and Best Player award respectively.

Wanchu netted a record number of 14 goals in the tournament.

Rinchin Khandu Singchaji of Rupa FC was adjudged as best goalkeeper, the award for the best disciplined team went to Winning XI.

Addressing the players before the game, former president of All Sajolang Elite Society, Aju Khonjuju encouraged the young sportspersons to uphold discipline and sportsman spirit in and off the field.

“One of the main advantages of playing any sport is that it teaches us to cope with failures and disappointments that come our way and to make renewed efforts to achieve success next time. So give your best and make yourself worthy of representing the state and country in the future,” Khonjuju said.
