Hokkir Ete Memorial T20 Cricket Tourney begins

AALO, Jul 2: The Horkkir Ete Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Paktu Ete Bango Students’ Union, got off to a flying start with Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra formally inaugurating the competition at Pobdi school general ground on Monday.

Altogether, 51 teams from different places of West Siang district are in the fray for the coveted trophy.

Speaking on the occasion, Bagra stressed on sportsmanship spirit and said talented players should take up games and sports as a profession as the Govt is laying importance to sports and kept job reservation for the meritorious sportspersons too.

DDSE Eto Ete said that games & sports and study should go hand in hand. He stressed on parental role to imbibe discipline and sense of duty among the students.

Henkar Ete, sponsor of the tournament, narrated briefly on the life and role of her mother on whose memory the tournament is being organised. Bango secretary Karge Ete, ex-ZPM Tumpe Ete, organising chairman Jomgum Ete, PEBSU president Marken Kamnyi and secretary Jumli Ete also spoke. Earlier, a one-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul of late Hokkir Ete. (DIPRO)
