DM lifts ban on poultry birds

AALO, Jul 3: West Siang District Magistrate Swetika Sachan has lifted ban on poultry birds after getting assurances from Veterinary Department that transported poultry birds are being closely monitored. However, ban on transportation of domestic animals like cattle, pigs and goats to the district via Pasighat-Likabali road is continued to avert spread of foot and mouth disease (FMD) as a preventive measure.

Meanwhile, during a meeting the DM had with the officers and public of Aalo on Monday, in a bid to put a check roaming of stray animals within the township, it was decided to issue one-month notices to the owners of pet animals to keep their animals in their safe custody failing which stray animals will be caught and a fine of Rs 3000 in the first instance and Rs 5000 subsequently will be imposed on their owners. Further, owners will be fined on daily basis in case of delay to take back the captured animals. (DIPRO)
