Govt to look into several facets before renewal of IAF bombing zone agreement: Rebia

ITANAGAR, Jul 3: GoAP will look into a slew of facets including public welfare, social security, safety and security of people of Dolungmukh area before contemplating on renewal of lease agreement for IAF bombing zone at Dolungmukh in Kamle district.

This was stated by Environment & Forests Minister Nabam Rebia today.

Rebia visited the bombing zone and other parts of Dolungmukh area along with local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Tamar Murtem, Secretary Land Management S K Jain, Kamle DC Moki Loyi and other HoDs of the district among others.

The Rebia-led team also interacted with the residents, leaders and administrative officers of the area and listened to the problems faced by them during the “bombing” period and “live bombing” since 2017 onwards.

Later while attending a meeting with officials of Indian Air Force, district administration and local leaders, Rebia said in any case the safety and security of the indigenous people will not be compromised even if it is a project of national importance related with security.

He said that the locals need to cooperate as the site is for firing practice meant for fighter pilots who deal with the national security and at the same time, he requested the IAF officials to formulate policy for creating more awareness about the bombing zone, schedule, timing of bombing through local address system, ahead of bombing.

He suggested that the local administration and Kamle DA need to get in touch with the IAF officials for further communication so that no further loss of life and property of locals get repeated in future.

MLA Murtem, Secretary LM and DC also spoke.
