Work with missionary zeal, imbibe team spirit: Felix to RWD officials

ZIRO, Jul 4: RWD, IPR & Printing and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bamang Felix had a review meeting with the officials of RWD department at Yachuli today.

Exhorting the engineers to work with missionary zeal and imbibe team spirit, the Minister said: “The Rural Works Department has a major responsibility of providing road connectivity to the persons in the last mile. You as officials of this department should take solace in the fact that you are able to mitigate the communication issues of the common, rural and under privileged people. The roads and the bridges that you build in the difficult rural terrains will always be a part of your credentials.”

Felix, who is on his maiden visit to Lower Subansiri district after taking over RWD portfolio, told the officials: “As engineers of a very important department you should be able to identify crucial roads and prepare DPRs after personally verifying the ground realities. There should be no compromise on the quality of infrastructures.”

He also suggested for using GEO-CAMs and other latest software applications to get the exact position and also to avoid duplicacies.

“All the completed projects should be formally inaugurated and the reports should be dully endorsed to the central government on the ministry’s website portal. Let us all work together to make this division the best in the state,” he stated.

Felix informed that the present govt is trying to work out a module under Chief Ministers Rural Road Program to provide road connectivity to all smaller, less populated villages that do not meet the criteria under PMGSY. The vision of our govt to provide road connectivity to all villages by 2022 can only be fulfilled with the help of our engineers who will be assisting us in identifying rural villages outside the PMGSY ambit, he added.

He directed Executive Engineer Toko Ottu to hold review meeting every fortnight in the sub-divisions and monthly review meeting at the circle level to assess the progress of the projects.

He also assured to look into the problems of the officials like vehicle and accommodation issues.

The meeting was also attended by ADC Yachuli J T Obi. (DIPRO)
