Plantation of 500 saplings marks Van Mahotsav

TEZU, Jul 6: A tree plantation programme as part of week-long Van Mahotsav was organized today at Digaru by Lohit Forest Division.

The programme was spearheaded by the Lohit Forest Division. The plantation drive was joined by Minister AH&V, Agri, Horti, Fisheries& Sports & Youth Affairs Dr Mohesh Chai, SP, HoDs & other officers of Tezu.

Around 500 saplings of different tree species were planted during the programme.

Emphasizing the importance of living in harmony with Mother Nature, the Minister said, “We, the human beings have caused so much damage to our mother nature by cutting trees in the name of development. But despite the need of development, we should also take care of our mother nature who has given so much to us.”

He requested the people to come forward to plant more and more trees and make the area well protected from natural calamities like flood, landslides etc.

DFO S Manyu highlighted the importance of trees in our life. He also highlighted the problems faced by the forest department in protecting the forest area from illegal activities.

He reminded as to how everyone shares equal responsibility to protect our forest and environment. He requested for cooperation from the public to protect the forest area from illegal activities. (DIPRO)
