NERIST joins Van Mahotsava Week celebration

NIRJULI, Jul 8: Celebrating the Van Mahotsava Week, a plantation drive was carried out at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) campus here on Saturday.

In all, 50 saplings were planted near NERIST gas agency during the programme themed “Clean NERIST Green NERIST” which was organized under the banner of NERIST Research Scholars Association (NRSA). Among others, Registrar in-charge of NERIST, M K Camder also took part in the event.

The saplings were provided by the Department of Forestry, NERIST, while temporary bamboo fences (to protect the planted saplings) were arranged by NERSA. The participants also cleared wild vegetations to ensure proper growth of the newly planted saplings.

NRSA president Dhon Bagang lauded all the participants for taking active part in the plantation drive. He requested the NERIST administration to assign gardeners for proper maintenance of the saplings. “Let us keep NERIST clean and green,” he added.
