Village Health, Sanitation & Nutrition Day observed

NAMSAI, Jul 8: Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Day was observed at Namsai on Sunday. Distribution of ready to eat food, ante-natal and post-natal health check-up for pregnant/lactating women, group monitoring of children, hand-washing practice, nutrition and health counselling were the main attractions of the Day. Adolescent girls, pregnant women, young children, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and PHED & WS field motivators took part in the programme.

Divisional Commissioner Gamli Padu, also Commissioner, Women and Child Development attended the programme held at Simulbari and Deobeel villages of Namsai.

Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said the main vision of Poshan Abhiyan is to reduce under-nutrition, anaemia, etc which is generally found among young children, women and adolescent girls of backward areas. He further said Poshan Abhiyan is a part of extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan launched by the GoI to extend and ensure benefit to reach to the targeted group.

He requested the field functionaries to work with complete dedication for the greater interest of the society. He further advised the CDPOs and AWWs to complete Aadhaar seeding and to seek help from district administration for the better result.

Director of Women and Child Development T Pertin requested the gathering to avail maximum benefit from this important scheme and requested the departmental officials to discharge their duty with complete sincerity.

In-charge Deputy Commissioner of Namsai, B Talukdar assured to extend all logistic support required to fulfill the aspiration and needs of the common people. He said this year, 150 weighing machines were issued against the Anganwadi centres of the district by the district administration.

Among others, DD (WCD) G Amo, and CDPOs of Namsai, Lekang & Chowkham were also present in the programme.
