MPs say ‘thanks’ for supporting Tibetans

ITANAGAR, Jul 10: Pema Jungney and Kunga Sotop, Members Parliament, Govt of Tibet in Exile along with Yangdup, Tibetan Settlement Officer, Tenzingaon called on State Assembly Speaker T N Thongdok at his office chamber here Tuesday.

On behalf of Tibetan Govt in Exile the MPs expressed their gratefulness to the Govt of India for supporting Tibetan people in exile in India and also sought India’s support particularly from Govt of Arunachal Pradesh with whom Tibet had always been in good relation. They also invited the Speaker and the Members of Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh to Tibetan Parliament at Dharamsala.

The Speaker assured support of the Arunachal Govt specially to the Tibetan settlement area at Tenzingaon which comes under his home constituency. He also suggested for fruitful utilization of infrastructure created for Gyuto Tantric University at Tenzingaon since the institution has been shifted to Dharamsala. He further suggested if a branch of the University could be started in Tenzingaon so that people from Arunachal Pradesh specially the followers of Buddhism can avail benefit of Buddhist education. He further suggested if certain schemes could be introduced for a sustained income of the Tibetan people at Tenzingaon.
