ToT on JJA, POCSO Act, other child rights commences

ITANAGAR, Sep 15: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) is organizing a two-day training of trainers (ToT) for retainer lawyers, Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), members of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Special Juvenile Police Unit, officials and staffs of District Child Protection under the Child Protection Scheme (CPC) on Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act and other child rights, which began here at Banquet hall today.

Attending as resource person, Geetanjali Goel, Special Secretary DLSA gave an overview of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 saying the basic aim of the Act is to adopt a child-friendly approach in the settlement of matter in the interest of the children and arrange ways for their ultimate rehabilitation through various established institutions under this Act.

She also explained the role and procedure of JJBs in the State in exercising the powers and discharging its functions relating to children in conflict with law under this Act. She also talked about individual care plan and social investigation report.

Chairperson CWC Capital Complex Kani Nada Maling, another resource person explained in details practical activities of CWC in the State.

Earlier, Member Secretary APSLSA Budi Habung highlighted the insight of the programme and need to create awareness amongst the people of the State in protecting the rights of child and giving them proper environment to grow healthy and unharmed.
