DBC crowned Teachers’ Trophy champion

ITANAGAR, Sep 18: Don Bosco College (DBC) won the second edition of State Level Football Tournament for Teachers’ Trophy by defeating Don Bosco School (DBS) 3-0 in the final played at Dera Natung Govt College, Itanagar ground yesterday.

The winners received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with the trophy, while the runners-up team secured a cash prize of Rs 30,000.

In individual awards, the best goalkeeper’s prize was given away to Rido Soni of DBC while Biju Manju of DBS was adjudged as the best player. Taba Sel of DBS got the highest scorer’s prize.

Attending the final as chief guest, local MLA Techi Kaso appreciated the initiative of Ajing United Club for organizing a soccer tournament for the school and college students, and exhorted the students to maintain the age-old relationship of Guru-Shishya.

Responding to a one point memorandum of AUC, Bamang Tago, chairman Sports Authority of Arunachal assured to take up the matter on priority basis. He appreciated the contribution of teachers in building the society. He also highlighted the govt initiatives in promoting sports at the school level.

Tashor Pali, Dy Director of Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society lauded the organizing team for conducting the event successfully. He also generated awareness regarding the HIV/AIDS and asked the students to refrain from taking drugs and other unwanted things.

Earlier, organizing chairman Arun Badung highlighted the main motto of conducting the Teachers’ Trophy. He urged for including the State level tourney in the annual calendar of the state govt.

Dr N T Rikam, Principal DNGC, Rev Fr Chemparaty Jose, Director DBC, Fr Jose George, Principal DBC and Athisu Anthony, Principal DBS also witnessed the final match.
