Bid to make Model Residential School a centre of excellence

PASIGHAT, Sep 30: In an effort to make Govt Residential School Gandhi a centre of excellence and a real Model school, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak called a meeting of private companies, public sector undertaking and bankers operating in the district today at DC’s conference hall here and requested them to sponsor the school under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.

While welcoming the participants, DDSE Jongge Yirang informed that Govt Sec School Gandhi has been upgraded to Govt Model Residential School under Chief Minister’s Adhunik Patshala Yojana. He further informed that the State Govt will be providing infrastructure and other facilities but there lots of things to be done to make the school as Model School in real terms like development of playground for football & volleyball, badminton court, construction of gate with cattle trap, construction of approach road inside the campus, re-painting of school building and campus beautification.

ADC (HQ) Tatdo Borang participating in the discussion, appealed the participants to support and extend help to the Govt initiative and contribute in the form of cash, kind and labour. The participants from banks and PSUs while appreciating the initiatives of the district administration, requested to give a formal request in writing along with estimates so that they could obtain permission/sanction from appropriate authorities.

Later, the whole team visited the school and distributed the responsibilities of works amongst themselves. While M/s Puna Hinda Company will take up the development of playground, State Bank of India will construct the school gate with cattle trap and NHIDCL (National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited) will take up the painting of school building. The construction of internal road will be taken up with contribution from the other banks while beautification of the campus will be taken up by DDSE and the school authority.

The meeting was attended by managers of SBI, PNB, Rural Bank, Apex Bank, Axis Bank, Puna Hinda Company, officers from NHIDCL, CO (TPT) and CO (DEV) of DC office.
