World Heart Day celebrated

YUPIA, Sep 30: Joining rest of the globe, the District NCD Cell, Yupia celebrated the World Heart Day on the theme ‘My Heart Your Heart’ at the premises of Govt Hr Sec School, Ganga village, Itanagar.

The World Heart Day, which is celebrated on September 29 every year, is aimed at encouraging people to look after their own hearts thereby curbing the non-communicable diseases (cardiovascular diseases).

DMO cum DNO (NCD), Dr Subu Tasso Kampu, in her address, advised the students to lead an active life to prevent heart disease in future.

Dr Rinchin Dorjee Megeji from Ramkrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar made a P-P presentation on CVDs while Dr Radhe Natung, Specialist (NCD), TRIHMS (Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences) highlighted the importance of World Heart Day celebration.

On the occasion, Alisha Meitei, Psychologist came up with a P-P presentation on ill-effects of tobacco consumption.

The students and faculty took pledge on tobacco-free lifestyle.

The event was followed by screening of faculty members of the school for NCDs. (DIPRO)
