DC flags off year-long ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’

ITANAGAR, Oct 2: Capital Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan today flagged off two vehicles for ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ from Itanagar which shall tour initially in capital complex and Papum Pare district and next twenty days in all parts of state right from eastern boundary of Longding to western boundary in Tawang and then to Assam, Nagaland and other parts of NE region and country.

Addressing the gathering, the DC said that the ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ which has started on the Gandhi Jayanti shall continue to reach to all parts of the state and country and will also reach out to more than five crore people during the year-long ‘yatra’.

The National Youth Project (NYP), AP-sponsored ‘yatra’ will spread Mahatma Gandhi’s ideologies. Currently, the focus is on to plan the celebrations of the first year starting October 2 will conclude next year on the same day. The idea behind the series of events is to spread the ideals of Gandhi to the masses. The common theme of the events would be to spread the concept of communal harmony.

Dhawan said that first leg of the celebrations kick off with ‘Gandhi Youth Sadbhavna Yatra’ in 719 districts in India starting from Arunachal Pradesh and culminate at Raj Ghat, New Delhi in ‘Pan India’ level.

Selected youths will take out a car rally with songs, dance, seminar, nukkad natak, padyatras, quiz competitions, exhibitions, cycle rally and poster stamp competitions, lecture series and symposiums on topics related to the philosophies practiced by Gandhi.

School and College students from across educational institutions and academics would be encouraged to participate in the programmes across the country.

NYP-AP president HP Biswas also spoke.
