NDRF joins IOCL hands to hold mock drill

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 12 Bn joined IOCL hands to conduct a mock exercise on earthquake at IOCL, Emchi, Doimukh today.

The 35-member NDRF team along with 19 personnel from IOCL, Doimukh participated in the mock drill. NDRF conducted mock exercise on earthquake scenario in a collapsed structure wherein six live victims were trapped.

NDRF team approached to the victims by applying hailing search method, cutting of concrete wall/tin, canine search and rope rescue techniques. It rescued the six live victims and of them, five were sent to medical post and one victim to NDRF Unit MI room, Doimukh for further treatment.

During mock exercise, fuel pipes of tank No 5 at IOCL, Doimukh caught fire due to tremors of earthquake. The security personnel of IOCL controlled the fire by using dry chemical powder, high volume long range and water cum foam monitor. Umesh Kumar Thapliyal, Commandant 12 Bn NDRF, Arun Deogam, Second-in-Command, P N Singh, Dy Commandant, Dr L M Singh, SVO, Huwuto Sema, CDM, IOCL and Deepjit Paul, safety officer attended.
