Arunachalee poet attends Rhodes Poetry Retreat 2018

Itanagar, Oct 6: Taking the art of writing poetry to next level, Arunachalee poet and author of Dear Bohemian Man, Subi Taba was the only Indian poet among a core group of poets from Australia, New Zealand and USA to attend the Rhodes Poetry Retreat 2018, held recently at Monolithos in Rhodes Island in Greece.

The poetry and writing workshop is held every year and facilitated by Luka Lesson, a spoken word and rap artist of Greek heritage from Australia and an Australian Poetry Slam champion. The event is designed to give poets all around the world writing space to soak up Greek culture, teach history of the ancient western medieval civilizations and visits to ancient archaeological sites for digging lyrical fossils for writing.

The 7-day workshop discussed Greek literature, performance techniques and role of poetry in the society and culture. Subi Taba wrote and performed a poem “Meetings and Departures” inspired by Homer’s poem Odyssey at the end of the workshop which was concluded by poetry performances by all the participating poets.
