State bags 3 Poshan awards

Pasighat, Oct 6: Arunachal Pradesh has done exceptionally well during the Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month), observed last month across the country to address the malnutrition challenges and sensitize the countrymen regarding the importance of holistic nutrition, by winning three Poshan awards which are to be given at a New Delhi function on October 10 next.

The awards – two for ‘leadership in the block levels’ and another for ‘individual excellence by field functionary’ – were won by Mailong Taku Moyong, CDPO Mebo, Shilakani Namshum, CDPO Lekang and Nuri Elapra, Supervisor Tezu.

It is to mention here that 10 ICDS Projects covering 47 ICDS projects in Arunachal Pradesh are implementing the Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan and that despite the fact that East Siang is yet to be covered under the Abhiyaan it has fared well by securing second position in the State level in the Abhiyaan activities coverage earlier and now with the national awards the Women and Child Development department in the district has notched up the tally. The Poshan Abhiyaan will carry on till 2022.

While informing this, Deputy Director of ICDS Pasighat Ponung Ering Angu, who spearheaded the mission tirelessly, expressed her gratefulness to the department for acknowledging their effort, saying it is the team effort which earned glory for the East Siang and the State as a whole.
