“I Study” campaign launched in U/Subansiri for school dropouts

DAPORIJO, Oct 7: In a bid to attract school dropouts to return to schools, an innovative programme, “I Study” campaign has been launched in Upper Subansiri district under the initiative of DC Danish Ashraf during the 5th ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ camp held at Nacho on October 4 last.

The main intent of this campaign is to promote and ensure re-enrolment of dropout students of the district, who have left their schools at an early age due to various financial and personal reasons.

During the launch of this initiative, eight students from Nacho circle were given free school bags, instrument box and certificates by the DC in presence of Education Department officers and teachers of the nearest schools where they will be enrolled. These students will be registered at their nearest school to continue their studies. Directions were given to the Block Education Officer and the teachers to monitor the progress of these students specifically and submit report to the DC office.

Out of eight enrolled students, four were girls – which is an important step to ensure actual implementation of the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” Abhiyan.

The DC directed the Education officials that special focus has to be given to the Govt schools of Nacho, which is a very remote circle of the district. Besides this, the DC also vowed to ensure better amenities and infrastructure at schools in the area.

This initiative was initiated in coordination with Education & ICDS departments. CDPO Nacho was very instrumental to trace out all these students and motivate their parents for re-enrolment. This initiative will be started in other circles of the district as well and soon focus will be on those children who are put into child labour. (DIPRO)
