RKMH-VSC to host Spiritual Initiation, starting Oct 9

ITANAGAR, Oct 7: The Ramakrishna Mission Hospital (RKMH), Itanagar in association with Vivekananda Study Circle, Naharlagun is organizing a three-day Spiritual Initiation (Mantra diksha ceremony), beginning at the RKMH premises on October 9 next.

In this connection, Most Rev Swami Shivamayanandaji Maharaj, vice president, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, arrived here from Kolkata. He was accorded a traditional welcome by RKMH monks here this afternoon with ‘Albe be Alaka…’- a folk song.

Initiation in the Ramakrishna Mission is not a “membership” or a “rite of passage” to any group or cult. Initiation means letting go of the superficiality of our aspirations, and choosing freely and with clear thinking, a path of sincere “sadhana” or spiritual struggle with the aim of realizing the eternal truths spoken about in our scriptures. “The flow of Divine Power and Grace in the Ramakrishna Math & Mission is maintained by an unbroken lineage of Gurus, the guru-shishya parampara. The president & vice president of the Ramakrishna Math & Mission, worldwide maintain this spiritual tradition through the process of mantra-diksha or Initiation. ”

Mantra Diksha is given to develop a connection with your higher nature. God has given us 24 hours during the day of which we should spend 23 hours for the family, society, our profession, ambitions and desires. The remaining one hour should be devoted to discover the divinity within ourselves, said a press note from VSC.
