AAPWU suspends agitation post CS assurance

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: A team of All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) headed by its president Tadung Yangfo and secretary general Techi Tara today met the State Chief Secretary in his office at Civil Secretariat here to discuss the ‘ultimatum’ they previously served to the Govt concerning their charter of demands.

Chief Secretary Satya Gopal gave the assurance that maternity leave for women workers while delivering 2 babies and uniformity of grade pay for work charge of staff like SK, LDCs, drivers, painters, mates, fitter, RR operations, carpenters, masons, E&M operators, mechanics, electricians, wiremen, AC operators, meter readers, HT & LT linemen, operator panel boards, welders and auto electrical will be implemented.

The CS also assured that demands for enhancement of wages and appointment on compassionate ground to the deceased family members of contingency/casual workers shall be considered reasonably.

Expressing satisfaction with the CS’s assurances, AAPWU decided to cancel its phase-wise democratic movement. Commissioner PWD Bilatee Pertin, Secretary Labour Kapa Kholie, Deputy Secretary Finance L Sumpa and Labour Commissioner Ojing Darung were also present at the meeting.
