Kamlang TR celebrates Wildlife Week

WAKRO, Oct 9: The Kamlang Tiger Reserve and WLS Division, Wakro has celebrated the Wildlife Week (Oct 2-8) in a befitting manner. The celebration started with an early morning procession by school children, staff and local people followed by a cleanliness drive and ceremonial tree planting at Wakro.

Celebration was continued for fringe area villages at Thilai and Tilankiang schools where importance of forests and wildlife was highlighted. Various events like drawing competition for students, tree plantation, awareness meeting and distribution of solar lantern, etc were conducted to mark the Week.

The weeklong celebration culminated at the Towam village community hall, Wakro where ex-ZPC of Lohit district, chairman and secretary of EDC Kamlang TR, besides GBs and ex-PRI members participated.

EDC chairman Soto Thalai and secretary Solen Rangmang assured to help the department in its endeavour for protection and conservation of wildlife and their habitat.

Earlier, DFO Koj Tassar and RFO Kelsan Dechen, Kamlang TR explained in detail about celebration of the Week and importance of wildlife and the need of their protection and preservation for posterity.
