ELC launched at Jomin Tayeng Govt College

ITANAGAR, Oct 11: The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) was launched at Jomin Tayeng Govt Model Degree College, Roing on October 8 last by involving ELC nodal officer Dr J K Pattnaik (Associate Professor, Dept of Political Science), who is campus ambassador of the college.

The nodal officer educated the targetted members of the college regarding voter registration, electoral roll, summary revision and other related matters through rigorous explanatory modes.

He also acquainted the participants about EVM and VVPAT and thrust upon the transparency of the electoral process. While dwelling at length other significant issues relating to  universal adult suffrage, Dr Pattnaik called upon the participants  to  imbibe as well  reinforce the culture of participatory democracy and make best use of ethical voting by emulating the maxim of  ‘Every Vote Counts and No Voter to be Left Behind’.

The faculty members of the college also called upon the participants to exercise their right to vote in a free and fair manner to augment the pillars of parliamentary democracy.

The student representatives actively participated in the ELC discourse, said a release of JTGMDC.

The Principal i/c of the college also advised the participants to develop the spirit of free, fair and ethical voting to strengthen electoral participation.
