STCC conducts Rock show to generate awareness on ill effects of tobacco

BHALUKPONG, Nov 8: One of the most popular rock bands, ‘The Royal Flush’ in collaboration with the State Tobacco Control Cell (STCC) conducted a rock show at Tippi town, Bhalukpong in West Kameng district on Wednesday pulling huge crowd, both young and old alike while imparting awareness on tobacco and its harmful effects.

It was attended by team from State Tobacco Control Cell led by its State Programme Officer Dr Biman Natung and team members of District Tobacco Control Programme Tamchi Para, Tage Yakang and Kabak Taji.

Besides the rock show, the children from St Xavier’s School Bhalukpong, Govt Middle School, Koilabhatti and Melyapung Public School, Tippi exhibited wonderful skits and songs on tobacco.

The objective of conducting such rock show cum awareness campaign on tobacco was explained by Dr Tage Neha, Sr Medical Officer CHC Bhalukpong. He also urged the public to quit tobacco and to choose life and not tobacco. Karpa Marde State Consultant STCC also spoke on the occasion and told about effects of smoking and passive smoking.
