WK Police hosts maiden interaction program with DA, CBOs & public

BOMDILA, Dec 5: The West Kameng Police headed by SP Raja Banthia organized its first ever interaction programme with District Administration, Community Based Organizations and public.

The programme was graced by Japu Deru, MLA cum Advisor to CM along with State IGP Sunil Garg and Dr Sonal Swaroop, Deputy Commissioner West Kameng.

The representatives of six CBOs of the district hailed the “pioneering” initiative headed by SP West Kameng and called for similar initiative to be emulated throughout the state for better coordination among the Police, Administration and the public.

The members discussed various issues like safety and security of commuters related to BCT road, rampant road accidents with the vehicles of Army, Cyber crimes, comprehensive traffic management, tackling of cannabis, etc.

Amongst the prominent issues raised by the CBOs were scarcities of police personnel in the district resulting in delayed PCR response, illegal poaching and timber operations in Kamengbari and Doimara area by the intruders from adjoining populace of Assam, sensitization of villagers including GBs and students on legal front.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sonal Swaroop said that safety and security of citizen is the first priority of both Police and Administration. She informed that due to the recent surge in the tourist inflow in the district the Arunachal Suraksha App launched by the Police department would benefit a large extent to tourists as well as the local denizens.

Appreciating the initiative by the district police and cooperation by the CBOs, she advocated for conduct of similar programme on regular basis and asked CBOs to help in disseminating the usage of the App.

IGP Garg while addressing the gathering said that every responsible citizen of the nation can deliver the duties as a police themselves abiding by the law and disseminating the message of peace and security within the society.

He said that for police personnel physical fitness is mandatory for which regular events of games and sports should be organized by the district police.  He informed that the govt is soon launching NERS (National Emergency Response System) which will club all the essential services including PCR, Ambulance, etc in a single platform.

He praised the initiative of SP and directed him to carry the campaign to grassroots level and schools including college students.

Japu Deru while praising the initiative asked for more proactive services by the police with greater responsibility. He said prevention of crime is better than penalization for which legal awareness in coordination with legal services team be disseminated to every citizens.

He called for modernization of the police force and said promptness in duties devoid of any external interference should be delivered to the people, which will help police to garner more respect and trust from the citizens. This will help in better relationship and coordination between the two.

SP Banthia briefed the house about Arunachal Suraksha App in detail and also informed about formation of Student Police Cadets (SPC) in the district. He affirmed that all innovative suggestions put forward by the CBOs and members present would be substantially made into practice.

He further informed that the Police in the district has made time bound accomplishment of many assignments like Police verification certificates, Helpline response, etc. (DIPR)
