Students, coming from impoverished background, felicitated by HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar
New Delhi, Jul 17: Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar today felicitated students who scored high marks in their respective examinations and secured admission in Delhi top colleges despite coming from poor families..
“The rank holders are often felicitated but the struggle of these students who make it to top colleges under difficult circumstances gets unnoticed. We wanted to salute them for their spirit and determination,” the Union Minister said during the function at his residence here.
Despite hailing from backward class, these students have come up with flying colours, and their hard work must be recognised, so that in future also they would be motivated, Javadekar added.
Javadekar appreciated the role of NGO’s Asha society and Navjyoti which work in slum areas and help backward class students to pursue their studies despite all hurdles. The HRD minister added that government will work on such scheme which will help students to get free admission and bear other expenses in the long run.
One of the students said, ”We have been motivated and we will continue to shine in future also.”
Many of the students, who were present in the event, were from poor and economically weak families. (UNI)
