Decadal Nyishi Day celebrated in befitting way
ITANAGAR, Apr 20: Going with Itanagar, the Decadal Nyishi Day was celebrated yesterday in various parts of the State in a befitting manner.
At PALIN: The Decadal Nyishi Day was celebrated at the general ground here in Ka-Daadi district wherein the Nyishi brethren of the district participated with renewed spirit. Biri Son, NES chairman Kra-Daadi unit hoisted the Nyishi Elite Society flag.
Takam Pario, the local MLA who graced the celebration as chief guest, advised the gathering to lead a disciplined life and work hard for the upliftment of the Nyishi community in particular and the state as whole.
The celebration was attended by officers, PR leaders, GBs, students and general public of the district.
Various cultural troupes from the district, dressed in full traditional attires, presented colourful dances.
At PAKKE-KESSANG: As part of the Decadal Nyishi celebration here, Sera Camdir Tok, chairman Pakke-Kessang NES block hoisted the NES flag.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest, G Natung asked the community members to be united and disciplined in its every approach.
Colourful cultural displays and games & sports were added attractions of the programme.
Remembering and honouring late Dera Natung, a pioneering leader for social transformation, the organizing committee posthumously felicitated him.
On the occasion, a plantation programme was also organized.
At SEPPA: The East Kameng district unit of NES celebrated the Decadal Nyishi Day at the general ground here.
The celebration was witnessed by people from all walks of life. Various activities such as colourful traditional dance, plantation of trees were conducted on the occasion.
Khya Safar Pao, chairman East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organization called for maintaining the dignity of the Nyishis, abolishing fine/revenge system and involvement of clan in minor disputes.
In a friendly football match, DC XI beat NES XI.
At KOLORIANG: The Decadal Nyishi Day was celebrated here with enthusiastic participation of the community members.
Tarh Chakum, vice chairman NES Kurung Kumey district unit, hoisted the NES flag and outlined the three decades of struggle of the Nyishis for changing the alien word called Dafla to Nyishi.
Bengia Tado, one of the prominent and senior citizens of Koloriang area who graced the occasion as chief guest, also spoke on the struggle of the Nyishis.
At RAGA: The Decadal Nyishi Day was celebrated here in a suitable way with Tania Milli, chairman NES Raga block hoisting the NES flag, followed by flag song with mass participation of PR leaders, GBs, local public leaders and senior citizens among others.
At DAPORIJO: The Decadal Nyishi Day was celebrated at Ligu as Jumni Ligu, chairman NES Upper Subansiri district unit hoisted the NES flag. Addressing a large gathering, he dwelt on the Nyishi unification movement and change of nomenclature from “dafla” to Nyishi and appealed the people to work united for making the Nyishis a vibrant and strong community.
He also called upon them to maintain communal harmony.
The Decadal Nyishi Day also celebrated at Gepen and Puchi-Geko.
