Students’ Union of NERIST ‘SUN’ suspends agitationechonewsmark

ITANAGAR, Jul 16: A press release from the Students’ Union of NERIST (SUN) today said here that with the ‘partial’ fulfillment of their demands, the SUN, in greater interest of new students and their parents who came from all over India, deferred its proposed call for boycott of Institute’s admission process for new academic session, due on July 17 and 18 next.

The decision was taken after the NERIST Director in-charge Prof Tamo Mibang along with Registrar Dr R P Bhattacharjee and Deans of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs held a meeting on Saturday on the proposed stir who resolved to address the ‘genuine’ demands of SUN and NERIST Research Scholars Association.

As per resolution, one month (April 2017) fellowship of PhD scholars and two months (April and May 2017) scholarship of GATE MTech students has been released today. PhD fellowship for May 2017 has been cleared by the Academic section and the same is likely to be released soon after being cleared by Finance section.

Moreover, the Institute has deputed the Dy Registrar (Finance) to meet the officials of MHRD and pursue for early release of funds for hostels and other developmental works.

Moreover, newly appointed Chairman of Board of Management (BOM) Prof U C Ray is likely to visit NERIST on 26th to attend the grievances of the students and institute affairs.
