ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Claiming that a large number of vehicles used by various NGOs private companies and govt undertakings were plying without obtaining valid permits from the department concerned, the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has appealed the Commissioner Transport to look into the issue.

In a memorandum submitted to the Commissioner, the federation stated that more than 1000 private and commercial vehicles hired by various govt undertakings private companies like BSNL, NEEPCO, NHPC, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Pawan Hans etc have not obtained plying permit from the competent authority whatsoever and they are also not registered with AAPPTF, which is the apex body of public (commercial) vehicles in the state.

“Vehicles hired by various institutions and establishments for their official works do not have valid permits which is normally issued by state Transport Authority and Regional Transport Authority. Moreover, people are also offering their private vehicles to companies on rent. The hiring of vehicles by organizations undertaking without a valid permit is illegal and it, in turn, also causes a huge loss of revenue for the state’s exchequer,” the federation said.

The AAPPTF further said that the Transport Commissioner has assured to look into its plea.
