Arunachal to participate in 72nd Republic Day Parade

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: "East Meets West" will be the theme of tableau of Arunachal Pradesh in the 72nd Republic Day parade in the national capital this year.
The tableau will display the vibrant cultural heritage of the Wangcho community inhabiting the eastern parts of the State along with the famed Chagzam Bridge constructed in the westernmost district of Tawang by Lama Chagzam Wangpo over the gurgling Tawangcho river near Mukto village more than four hundred years ago. The tableau will present a blend of two great cultural heritages.
“The model of Arunachal Pradesh on the theme "East Meets West" for participation in the Republic Day Tableaux in New Delhi has been finally approved and selected by Ministry of Defence,” stated an official release here today.
It said, only 16 models out of the presentations of 28 states, eight union territories and various PSUs have been selected for the R-Day Parade. From North East, apart from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim and Tripura will showcase their tableau.
“It is another feather in the cap of the Department of Information and Public Relations of the State that its presentation in the eight screening rounds of models of all twenty eight states, union territories and various public sector undertakings has once again been appreciated by committee of experts appointed by Ministry of Defence and finally been approved for participation on the auspicious day,” the release said.
It may be mentioned here that Arunachal Pradesh had bagged the best tableau award in the year 2017 and again won the second prize in cultural competition in 2019. But unfortunately, the State could not make it to the final list last year due to certain technical issues.
