KHONSA, Jan 12: With the Government of India coming up with new guidelines to complete the PMGSY Phase I & II projects by Dec 31 next, Tirap Deputy Commissioner Taro Mize has made a strong pitch for speeding up of all projects under the two phases with the strengthening of manpower and machineries so that those are completed within the timeframe.
Chairing a review meeting of PMGSY held at the DC’s office to assess the progress of the projects of phase-I & phase-II in the district, Mize informed the house that the Govt is focusing on overall development of projects under road, health and education sectors and it is the responsibility of the District Administration and the implementing agency to see whether the projects are implemented as per specification and ensure works completion in time.
The DC said that the road is the mother of all developmental activities without which it is very difficult to achieve all-round development of any area. The concerned contractors should complete the work within the stipulated time as per specification/tender, he added.
The DC told the officers/officials of RWD and contractors to bring the local issues hampering the progress of works to the concerned administrative officers and to him for amicable solution. He also asked the concerned RWD officials to regularly supervise the projects and to provide technical support during implementation to avoid future complicacy.
He asked the contractors to up the manpower and machinery for completion of the projects within Dec 31, 2021 for which they were asked to sign affidavits. He urged the EE(RWD) and the contractors to expedite the progress of projects for Police Housing also and to complete the same in all respects including toilet, water supply and electrification within the time-frame and hand over the completed schemes to the user agencies.
The meeting started with briefing the house about the guidelines and present status of PMGSY projects. Nending Bath, EE(RWD), Khonsa, informed that the projects under PMGSY Phase-I & Phase-II will be frozen by the Government wef Dec 31, 2021 and before that the projects should be completed physically and financially.
