People urged to obey traffic rules

BOMDILA, Jan 22: As part of the observance of National Road Safety Month (Jan 18 to Feb 17), a mass rally on road safety awareness was today conducted in the Bomdila township with active participation of 42 four and two wheeler riders.

The rally was flagged off by West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki along with the district Superintendent of Police BR Bommareddy. Both urged the gathering to obey traffic rules for the safety of everyone.

The program was organized by the District Transport Office in collaboration with the Police Department, Bomdila. Volunteers from GHSS, Bomdila, Police Dept and local Taxi Union participated in the event. Commendation certificates were distributed to all the participants. ADC (Bomdila) Sang Khandu, Circle Officer Kesang Wangda, DTO S Barua, DMO D Wange, DD (UD) Er N Taichung and other officials attended the program.

At Anini, the headquarters of Dibang Valley district, a women’s scooter rally was organised by the Women & Child Development department in collaboration with the District Administration and NHDCL to mark the National Road Safety Month.

During the event, the messages of road safety, use of helmets, vehicle registration and safe driving were disseminated. A booklet on road safety signs was distributed by the DTO, Anini. In addition, the message of Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign, Beti Bachao - Beti Padhao was also propagated. A total of 37 women riders participated in the rally. (DIPROs)
