Entrepreneur meet cum training program conducted

NAHARLAGUN, Jan 22: CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology, Jorhat organized a one-day entrepreneur meet cum training programme on cultivation of medicinal and processing of aromatic plants on Thursday at CSIR-NEIST Branch Itanagar here under the CSIR-Aroma Mission Program. About 60 participants from different SHG/NGOs, school students attended the programme.

Dr G Narahari Sastry, Director, CSIR-NEIST, attending the programme delivered a talk on entrepreneurship development and utilization of natural resources, management and protection of biodiversity. PI Dr S P Saikia, Principal Scientist explained about the CSIR-AROMA Mission project. Dr Jatin Kalita, Head, RPBD, CSIR-NEIST Jorhat explained about the CSIR Rural Technologies and their importance in socio-economic development. It has the tremendous scope for research & development for socio-economic development.

Prospective entrepreneurs Tabu Dui, president, Rural Development Society, Naharlagun and Tatung Tama shared their views and wished support regarding analysis of bioactive constituents/ingredients of medicinal and aromatic plants. The programme was co-ordinatted by Dr Chandan Tamuly, Scientist in-charge.

In the second session, a scientist-students interaction programme was held. The chief guest interacted with the school students and motivated them towards scientific temperament for development of the nation.
