A skit marks WHL-conducted awareness program

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: In a bid to sensitize the women on rising atrocities committed against the fair sex, the Women Helpline (WHL) -181, as part of the scheme of Women and Child Development Dept run by the OWA, organized an awareness programme on child marriage for the students of Don Bosco College, Jullang (Itanagar).

On the occasion, the DBC students performed an awareness skit (a short play) at F sector, Naharlagun in which scores of people attended to keep abreast of WHL activities.

The skit was put on in order to aware the society that till date we (WHL) have received several cases, including 39 child marriage cases out of which 33 cases have been “successfully solved”, and six cases are still pending, and how a victim can approach WHL-181, which is a universal toll-free number providing 24/7 emergency response to the affected women and girls.

It also provides information about women related government schemes and programmes.
