ITANAGAR, Feb 28: While citing the health benefits of donating blood, State Assembly Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte today appealed to the people with good health to donate blood for the suffering people during emergency. He was speaking during a voluntary blood donation camp organized at RK Mission Hospital here by All Tirap, Changlang, Namsai and Longding Students’ Union, Capital Complex unit in collaboration with Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donors Organization (AVBDO) and State Blood Transfusion Council.
Due to growing need of blood in hospitals it is necessary for the blood bank to be taken care of by the dedicated voluntary blood donors and likeminded people who work for the cause of suffering beings, stated Pontge, who also donated blood during the camp. He also lauded the noble work being taken up by AVBDO chairman Ramesh Jeke in the field of voluntary blood donation.
More than 50 volunteers turned up for the camp, wherein 37 units of blood were collected. Appreciating the donors, most of whom were females, Jeke, in his speech, appealed to the state government to make all the blood banks functional with sufficient manpower.
