ITANAGAR, Feb 28: Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang has felicitated the medical teams from CHC Tuting and CHC Mechukha who were the 1st batch trainees to complete the four-week training in Point of Care Diagnosis (POCD) at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in a simple function held yesterday.
He also interacted with the newly admitted 1st year MBBS students (3rd batch, 2021) of TRIMHS.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister made a special mention of the concept of the outreach service of TRIHMS and the health camps held in Upper Siang district under this programme at Yinkiong, Mossing and Tuting, followed by the surgical camp at Yingkiong and now the training of medical teams from Tuting and Mechukha.
He also urged the 1st year MBBS students to make best use of the opportunity provided in TRIHMS, with the teaching paraphernalia being continuously upgraded and experienced faculty, which he said are   comparable with, if not better, most medical colleges in the country.
Dr Moji Jini, Director TRIHMS gave an overview on the outreach service of TRIHMS, which aims to reach out to the periphery in an attempt to take health care services to doorstep of the people, besides providing medical and paramedical courses, tertiary health care, research and assist formulation & implementation of health care services.
Under its Outreach Activity, TRIHMS conducted the first health camp at Roing on 5th Feb 2020. After a hiatus of about one year due to COVID pandemic, the next health camps were held at Yinkiong (DH), Mossing village (PHC) and Tuting (CHC) from 11th to 14th January 2021.
The 36-member TRIHMS medical team was led by Dr Jini, who  informed that the idea of Outreach Service was not confined only to the screening of patients but to provide further support to the people with major illness beyond the local health care facility. Hand-holding and imparting skill training to the local health service team will complete the full circle of Outreach Service, he added.
Further, Dr Jini said that TRIHMS will strive to extend similar outreach services to other places of the State as practicable as possible.
