ITANAGAR, May 12: For the third day in succession, Arunachal Pradesh registered casualty, as a paramilitary personnel in late 50’s fell prey to Covid-19 infections, taking the State’s death toll to 69.

A 59-year-old male, ITBP personnel from 9th Bn, Lohitpur, Tezu in Lohit district, expired at DCHC, Tezu last evening (6.10 pm). Suffering from hypertension, hypothyroidism, the patient tested Covid positive on the same day at Sunpura check gate and died due to COVID-19 infection, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP), Dr L Jampa informed.

However, the patient received the first shot of Covid-19 vaccine on April 29 last.

Meanwhile, the State witnessed a single day new high with a massive 279 cases during the past 24 hours that took its active caseload to 2094 and the tally of confirmed cases to 20,854.

Also, 108 recuperated in the period that increased the total discharged cases to 18,691.

Itanagar Capital Complex, the most affected district found 73 cases. Lower Subansiri reported 35 cases, Lohit 33, Namsai 24, Papum Pare 20 and East Siang 19. Lower Dibang Valley and West Kameng detected 16 cases each, Changlang 14, Tawang nine, Kurung Kumey four and Lower Siang three.

Two cases each came from West Siang, Tirap, Dibang Valley & Anjaw, while a lone case was found in Upper Siang, Pakke Kessang, Kra-Daadi, East Kameng & Upper Subansiri.

Majority (208) of the fresh cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 71 symptomatic.

On the brighter side, ICC came up with the maximum 40 recoveries, followed by LDV at 11. L/Subansiri discharged 10, P/Pare nine, Changlang seven and W/Kameng six. Five recovered cases each came from Namsai, Lohit & Dibang Valley, three each from Tirap & E/Kameng. E/Siang, Tawang, L/Siang & P/Kessang recorded a single recovery each.

The State today tested 3334 samples for Covid-19 that took the cumulative figure to 4,92,061.
