DC asserts on maintaining COVID appropriate behaviour

PASIGHAT, May 12: With the rise in infections in East Siang district and aiming to shut the door further for the virus, Deputy Commissioner Dr Kinny Singh has asserted on maintaining COVID appropriate behaviour in the entire district.

Stating that police and magistrates are strictly enforcing Covid appropriate behaviour since 15th April last in the district, the DC also stressed on strict enforcement of Covid SOPs including maintaining social distance, use of hand sanitizers, avoid gathering and minimum customers inside shops.

Issuing a series of orders, the DC has appealed to everyone regarding observance of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour in the entire East Siang district and reiterated that masks should be worn at all times.

The DC warned that anyone without a mask would be penalized.

All shops will remain closed by 4 pm, except shops providing essential and emergency services like pharmacies, hospitals, animal care centres etc. Till further order, there will be night curfew from 6.30 pm to 5 am in the district. “There is nothing to panic about. People know about the virus now and the only thing is that they have to be sincere in following the protocols,” stated the DC. However, in order to prevent the further spread of the infection, the public should follow the protocols strictly, she appealed and expressed salutation to all Covid-19 warriors who have been steadfastly fighting against the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the East Siang administration has intensified its efforts by frequent broadcasting in town, radio talks, video clippings through social media etc. 13 testing centres (TrueNat) and 12 Vaccine Centres have been set up to encourage the people for testing and getting vaccinated in the district with a mission to curb the further spread of the disease and to achieve significant control over the pandemic in the district.

According to DMO Dr Kaling Dai, as on 11th May evening, total vaccine doses administered was 25,605 of which 1st and 2nd doses are 17,202 and 8403 respectively.

Jt Director Health Service (T&R), BPGH (Pasighat), Dr. Dukhum Raina, in his message, said: “Medical fraternity alone cannot fight against the unknown enemy called Corona. The way Pasighatians coming forward from every walk of life to fight against the disease in any form is really encouraging and appreciable.”

DTO (MV) M Loyi informed that administration has realized over Rs 2.27 lakh as penalty for violation of Covid appropriate behaviour from 655 persons. (DIPRO)
