ITANAGAR, May 12: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today greeted the nurses of the state on the occasion of International Nurses Day and expressed gratitude to them for serving the people with care, empathy and kindness, and also battling the Covid-19 pandemic like a true warrior.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Khandu wrote: “Happy #InternationalNursesDay to all the wonderful Nurses. Our utmost gratitude, respect, and love for all the nurses who are serving diligently with care, empathy and kindness, and also battling the #Covid19 pandemic like the true warrior.”

The International Nurses Day is observed every year on the 12th day of May to honour the nurses. It also marks the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Our Pasighat Correspondent adds: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), East Siang unit joined the nursing personnel of various health centres of the district in celebrating the International Nurses Day (IND) by sharing sweets and extending them wishes, admiring their dedicated services for the life-saving work, especially during this COVID pandemic.

The BMS East Siang team led by president Mipet Tayeng visited the Primary Health Centres at Rani, Sille, Bilat & Ruksin, Community Health Centre, Mebo and Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat and joined the IND celebrations with the nurses. Reminding them of their great work, Tayeng said that it was a great time joining and sharing the moment with the nurses on ‘IND’ and encouraged them to continue their untiring services for humanity notwithstanding the pandemic. Overwhelmed by the BMS’ gesture, some of the senior nurses expressed their thankfulness to the BMS leaders.
