115 beneficiaries receive vaccine shots at Kapu PHC
KHONSA, Jun 9: With the effort of COVID warriors including frontline workers (FLWs) and others, New Tupi village under Longo administrative circle has shown others the way by becoming the first village in Tirap district to achieve full coverage (100% vaccination), with the people in the age bracket of 45 plus being the beneficiaries.
Moreover, the Kapu PHC under Longo administrative circle recorded 115 beneficiaries who got vaccinated in a single day today.
Prior to this to make the ‘mission’ successful, a special one on one counselling session with a focus group consisting of reluctant people influenced by fear psychosis was held at the vaccination centre.
This milestone is a result of the hard work put in by the ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, PRI members, Chief, GB and medical officer of the circle, CO Longo said.
I hope our effort motivates other villages in countering the ‘hesitation’ against the vaccination and make it easier to win over the dreaded virus, the CO added.
Meanwhile, a total of 44 beneficiaries received the Covid shots on the spot at Lazu yesterday and many others registered their names for vaccination. As on 8th June, as many as 82 persons have been vaccinated under Lazu administrative circle in Tirap district.
In this regard, the District Administration in association with PRIs, EAC in-charge Lazu D K Thungdok, Health and WCD departments conducted IEC (Information Education & Communication) campaign on Covid vaccination at EAC HQs Lazu yesterday in which Chiefs, GBs, GPCs, AWWs and ASHAs from 19 villages of Lazu circle actively participated in the awareness camp.
Thungdok briefed the importance of conducting the IEC campaign on Covid vaccination at Lazu, saying all the PRIs, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers were asked to motivate the villagers under Lazu circle to get themselves registered to avail free vaccination (Covishield) the percentage was very low and so to increase the rate and to achieve the target of vaccinating the eligible beneficiaries.
Tirap Deputy Commissioner Taro Mize said that the public shouldn’t doubt any government scheme, especially the newly launched Covid vaccine, which he said is safe and has no side effects because whatever government launches (any scheme) is for the well being of the masses.
The DC appealed to all not to believe in any kind of hoax messages and fake videos posted in social media, while adding that all should come forward and receive Covid vaccine free of cost from the nearest health centre.
Later, the DC accompanied by ZPC Chathong Lowang, ZPM Lazu Block Rangmo Ranto, DMO Dr N Lowang, DRCHO Dr Nidak Angu, public leader Phawang Lowang visited Primary Health Centre at Lazu in both indoor and OPD.
Responding to a request, the DC and DMO assured to address the shortage of medical staff including posting of Allopathy medical officer at PHC, Lazu.
The DMO said that everyone should follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour and for maximum protection all eligible citizens must receive Covid-19 vaccine, she added that the priority group of 45 years and with comorbid conditions are more vulnerable to Covid infection and mortality.
